What is MECP2?

MECP2 duplication syndrome is an unusual, genetic, mental disorder portrayed by a large range variety of symptoms that involves learning/intellectual disability, infections in the upper respiratory tract (to have trouble digesting food), speech defects, seizures, unable to walk without assistance, and poor motor functions. 

Additional symptoms may occur:

  • When you can’t walk without assistance

  • Can't talk properly 

  • Causes seizures

  • Some boys get affected in different ways than other people
